Diabetes? What diabetes? When the dessert stomach is grumbling, these are my go-tos!
La Macelleria (Teneriffe) – the most authentic Italian gelato I’ve had outside of Italy, hand made by two handsome young Bolognian men, with the option of gelato making classes AND available on Uber Eats.
What’s not to love!
Try every flavour you can’t pronounce in Italian. Trust me, it’s worth it!
Marche du Macaron (Grange / Ashgrove) – the best macarons you’ll ever eat in Brisbane with an entirely gluten free range of to-die-for pastries!
These guys were making birthday croquembouche before Masterchef made it famous.
Plus I cannot think of another place in Brisbane where I can buy such amazingly good gluten free profiteroles!
Gelato Messina (South Brisbane) – There are some times in life when you just have a whole in your heart that only caramel icecream with pieces of sticky date pudding and cookie crumble can fix. And that’s okay.
This isn’t your normal gelato, this is gelato on steroids. And if you think you can handle that, try one of their dessert classes at attempt to taste every flavour in the cabinet.
NoDo Donuts (Valley) – gluten free, baked not fried, absolutely addictive donuts. Also serving up Brisbane’s best ever gluten free hot cross buns around Easter!
Doughlord (Valley) – now you can eat your (egg-free) raw cookie dough without risking salmonella!!
With flavours like vegan cookie dough (pictured), red velvet, triple choc and salty and sweet, this place is made all the more dangerous via home delivery on Uber Eats.
Vegan Yumm (Everton Park) – a totally vegan bakery that’ll leave you thinking “I can’t believe it’s not butter!”.
They make amazing customised vegan cakes as well as pies, cupcakes and cookies, with coffee also available with a variety of milk-free mylks.
Word of advice though: the brownies are not for the faint of heart, they’re super rich!
