Warm Spiced Oats

The idea for these oats was born from a recent trip to the Gerwurthaus store in Melbourne. With such a beautiful range of herbs and spices, it’s hard not to be inspired. This recipe uses their ‘cardamom pistachio sugar’, although a similar effect can be created at home with a few simple ingredients. While this is not the healthiest of breakfast options in terms of sugar content, the result is truly soul-warming!

Ingredients 

  • 1 cup oats
  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom (can also add 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon)
  • 1 tablespoon crushed pistachios

Method 

  1. Place the oats and almond milk in a bowl and mix well. Microwave on high for two minutes, or until the desired texture.
  2. Quickly sprinkle on the sugar, cardamom and pistachios while still hot and allow to melt slightly before eating.
